Vintage Couroc

I recently acquired a couple of nice vintage trays made by Couroc of Monterey, which I'll be listing for sale on eBay very soon.
Oddly enough, I really love most of the Couroc products I've ever found, but I have not kept a single one of them.  My favorite, so far, had a California poppy design inlay, with brass stems and bright orange poppy flowers.  I gave that to a friend of mine who's a California native for several generations back on both sides of his family (7 on one and 9 on the other but I forget which number is his father's side and which is his mom's).  As a relative newcomer, to me that seems somewhat impressive.  But the real reason I gave him the Couroc is because it is practically indestructible, which fits this friend's lifestyle (he does blacksmithing and things of that sort).   Couroc is very recognizable, and I run across items in good condition frequently enough, but they usually do need a little fixing up to look their best.

I wanted to know a little more about Couroc products before listing mine, so I did a quick search for some further info on the company.  I ran across this article, posted at No Accounting For Taste, and would like to both credit that article as well as thank the author for a funny and entertaining time reading it.  I even added a comment!   Someone needed help polishing their Couroc, and as the comment says, I use Simichrome to buff up my Couroc, it works great.

You'll be able to find my two lovely Couroc trays listed on eBay, shortly after the date and time on this posted article.   I sure hope someone buys them.  Couroc made such a beautiful and high quality product.  The Cable Car design is one of their classics.  I had not previously seen the grape leaves, but they're lovely as well.

Here's the cable car.   There is brass inlay for the lettering and around the headlight on the front, also around the outside of the central design.  This design has only a very small and subtle amount of brass inlay work.

The other tray's design is from the Wine Country:  a lovely bunch of purple grapes, accented with outlines and detail of inlaid brass.  Also quite lovely as well.

You can find these, and the other great stuff I have listed by searching for my seller id, assortedoddments, or by clicking on the link here:  assortedoddments on eBay.

If you have discovered this post several months from now and want to know if these are still available, send me a message to ask about them.  I frequently re-list things on eBay by request, and I also have a currently rather neglected storefront on Bonanzle, where I could list them for you, instead.  Or, by then I might have discovered more items with other designs!  I almost always buy items made by Couroc when I find them, if they're in good condition and the price is right.

Thanks for dropping by!
